Light, Letters & Shadow Stories! This week, Artopia becomes a world of glowing forts, dancing shadows, and imaginative wordplay. Young artists will explore how light transforms shapes into stories, how letters can become art, and how collaboration sparks creativity. From playful puppet theaters to poetic sketchbook prompts, it’s a week where curiosity leads the way and every shadow holds a surprise! 

This week in Artopia, artists will: 

• Experiment with shadow drawing using light and sculptural forms to cast shadows.  

• Choose between collaborative floor and wall art or solo projects to create in your own way. 

• Build paper shape mobiles and shadow puppets, then explore how light and simple materials can spark surprising effects in our Fort & Flashlight Play Area! 

• Dive into Tabletop Sketchbook time with Black-Out Poems and Found Word Stories – prompts to help turn words into visual art. 

• Learn from our teaching artists who are playful guides ready to spark curiosity and nurture confidence. 

• All materials included. 

Dedicated Toddler Area: 

• Enjoy playful matching activities and sensory fun in the Toddler Zone.  

• Create collaboratively on our giant drawing wall! 

• Explore a play area with books, foam blocks, soft mats, and building toys to support creative and safe exploration. 

During this Summer Session, you will make art to take home and contribute to collaborative projects that will shape our evolving studio space!

Summer Session tickets are available online or at the Museum Welcome Desk. Members, please log into your member account to access the discounted rate. 
Summer Passes must be purchased in person at the Welcome Desk. 

Please note: Summer Session tickets do not include general Museum admission. If you’d like to explore the Museum, separate admission is required and available at the Welcome Desk. All participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to explore the Museum.
