In this introductory four-week series, your young artist will get the chance to give wheel-throwing a spin! This engaging, hands-on experience focuses on three essential techniques for working at the wheel: centering, opening, and pulling—the foundation for creating functional forms such as bowls, cups, and vases.
Designed for beginners and budding ceramicists alike, this series helps build confidence at the wheel and lays the groundwork for future ceramics offerings.
Note: Artopia staff will support the finishing steps—trimming and glazing—after class, allowing students to stay focused on skill-building and gaining confidence at the wheel. While we do our best to prepare pieces for firing, not all beginner work is kiln-safe. This series emphasizes the creative process and skill development over producing a perfect finished product! Each participant will be guided toward completing one piece suitable for glazing, firing, and taking home after the course. Additional pieces may be finished and fired for an added fee.
Workshops are intentionally intimate, small-group experiences with limited seating.
