Mass Creativity isn’t just an event—it’s a reflection of how we aspire to deliver all our programming: multigenerational, community-centered, and built in partnership with the neighborhoods we serve. Supporting this program helps us strengthen our mission of access, creativity, and connection.
Mass Creativity is The New Children's Museum's signature access program celebrating 13 years in 2025. This initiative features free, artist-led workshops held in partnership with community organizations across San Diego, culminating in Mass Creativity Day on June 14 – a vibrant, community-wide art celebration at the Museum.
This year's theme, "Rooted Futures," is inspired by our ancestral cultural traditions, seeing nature as a teacher, and how the stories each of us carry will help us imagine and dream of the future. Participants will create memory vessels (our take on traditional piñatas), personal zines, and contribute to a collective weaving project that will be installed in the park.
Led by artist Natalie Godinez, who explores transborder identity and cultural connections through textiles and printmaking, the workshops honor our diverse roots while imagining creative futures.
Mass Creativity is more than a single day—it's community driven workshops, with art that is made in collaboration with the neighborhoods we serve. The joy that comes from Mass Creativity Day is a reflection of the many ways we build authentic connections, honor diverse cultural traditions, and create spaces where creativity is accessible to everyone.
